I fell asleep in the pod.

The technician screamed when I jerked awake. After unhooking me from the capsule, they had attempted to rouse me for about an hour: shook me, injected stimulants, sent electrical bursts through my brain to reset it.

They thought I wet-graved.

I was the ship, but when I tried to pull out my mind went somewhere. I don't know where but it was familiar. Like  a dream you've had dozens of times but only faintly remember in the morning.

We've been here before.

We've walked these stones. We've heard this music. We've seen the masks the dancers wear. We've drawn the curtains back and peered at their faces.

We know how this ends.

? But I can't remember any of it now. I wonder why I woke up.  ?
